Teaching to the Top with Tablets
There is no one way to use tablets in the classroom. Tablets are wonderful tools in the classroom but like all technology tablets can become overwhelming unless educators have a solid plan for implementation. Tablets can be used effectively in the classroom as a textbook and document viewer, for productivity, note-taking and administrative tools. But how can we harness these 21st century tools to teach higher-order thinking skills. The best way to use tablets is not just look for activities aligned to specific standards but to find ones that encompass the ideas of communication, collaboration and creation which are far more pervasive in the current educational paradigm.

So how do we get started? What can we do to teach to the top with our tablets?
One of the first things we can do is decide what we actually want our students to do. Begin with the end in mind. What do you actually want the students to produce? What are your course of study standards and objectives? Once you determine your standards and objectives and you have an idea of what you want your students to do it then it is time to begin planning your activities. One of the first things you want to do would be to develop your curriculum framing questions. Lets take a look again at the projects at Learning in Hand.
